Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)

English & Spanish Classes Available

Any employee who works with or may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace must be trained in OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) upon initial work assignment and whenever a new chemical is introduced into his or her work area. OSHA’s adoption of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) into the HCS requires that all employees are trained on the new GHS chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).

Employers are required to train workers on the new labels elements and safety data sheets format to facilitate recognition and understanding.
